Abu Dhabi’s Kalima project announced publishing the translation of the latest novel of Herta Mueller. Mueller, a German novelist born in Romania, has won the 2009 Nobel Prize in literature.
The publication of the Arabic translation coincides with the release of the original novel in German. The book will be launched during the next Frankfort Book Fair, held on 14-18 October, 2009.
"We are proud to be the first in the Arab World to translate and publish the work of Herta Mueller, whose literature holds an important place in Germany and the World," said Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Director of Kalima.
The translation comes as part of a partnership between Abu Dhabi’s Kalima and Germany’s University of Johannes Gutenberg.
"The novel offers Arab readers a text of high eminence in German literature," said Mustafa Suleiman, Kalima’s translation Coordinator at the University of Johannes Gutenberg.
