Following the announcement of their landmark events programme Yasalam on Monday 28th October, Flash Entertainment, the Abu Dhabi-based events company; today confirmed the name of the final act performing as part of the Yasalam After-Race Concerts on Yas Island. Celebrated American rock band Kings of Leon will be delivering their debut Middle East performance to an adoring crowd of UAE and international fans in this unprecedented line –up of top international acts.
Kings of Leon are an American rock band that formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999 consisting of three brothers and their cousin. The band’s first three albums which featured nine classic singles, achieved multi-platinum success across the UK, Ireland and Australia and led to a series of highly successful world tours and the headline slot at the prestigious 2008 Glastonbury Festival. Following the release of their fourth album “Only by the Night” in 2008 they went onto achieve success in their native United States. The album included the hit singles “Sex on Fire”, “Notion” and “Use Somebody” the last of which became a number one single on American Rock Radio. This year has brought continued success for Kings Of Leon seeing them headline a number of major music festivals including Reading & Leeds, Rock Werchter, Oxegen, T in the Park along with Sasquatch, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits in the United States. This year has also seen them win their first Grammy Award for the single “Sex on Fire” as well as two Brit Awards for “Best International Group” and “Best International Album” and an NME Award for “Album of the Year” with “Only by the Night”.

The Yasalam After-Race concerts are exclusively for Grand Prix ticket holders and will be taking place at the Concert Arena, Ferrari World, Yas Island throughout the weekend. People who have purchased a 3-day F1 Race ticket will be able to access all four nights of after-race concerts, and if they have purchased a 2-day ticket they will be able to access the concerts on Saturday and Sunday only. Flash confirmed that no additional tickets will be sold for any of the four nights of shows.

The concerts form part of a wider programme of events which have been announced under the Yasalam (Arabic for amazing) banner. Yasalam will see a series of events and activities in Abu Dhabi throughout October to celebrate the country’s biggest sporting event – the 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand prix. These Yasalam events will include educational events for students, live art with F1 replica cars, free concerts and film screenings on the Corniche in addition to the first official F1™ Fan Zone Abu Dhabi, brought to the city by Mubabdala.
