Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority Processes Almost One Thousand Entertainment Licences In A Month Of On-Line Application Launch
(3 October 2009)

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which manages the tourism industry in the Arabian Gulf emirate, has processed almost 1,000 licences for entertainment in restaurants and night clubs throughout the emirate since the launch of its online licensing initiative a month ago. “This is proving to be a tremendously successful scheme which is delivering licences in less than 24 hours of application as opposed to the previous manual system which take between a fortnight and six weeks to process,” said Nasser Al Reyami, Director Tourism Standards, ADTA.

The new system has also allowed applicants to pay licence fees on line.

“Our overall aim us to assist our stakeholders in their efforts to enhance their own offerings by saving them time and allowing them more effective use of manpower,” said Al Reyami.

ADTA’s Tourism Standards division has pioneered ground-breaking on-line initiatives over the past year with its world-class hotel accommodation classification system featuring the global industry’s first e-class on-line application and tracing system which allows for system-wide transparency.

“We will continue implementing web-based applications with additional initiatives planned for roll-out next year to ensure we deliver greater efficiency to the tourism licensing process,” said Al Reyami.

About ADTA: Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) was established in September 2004.It has wide ranging responsibilities for building and developing the emirate’s tourism industry. These include; destination marketing; infrastructure and product development and regulation and classification. A key role is to create synergy in the international promotion of Abu Dhabi through close co-ordination with the emirate’s hotels, destination management companies, airlines and other public and private sector travel-related organisations.
