Following the directives of leadership, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee for the Covid-19 Pandemic, in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Department of Economic Development, have implemented programmes to ensure the protection of workers' rights, and their health and safety during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Committee has ensured a safe work environment is provided for all workers, following all precautionary measures according to the highest international standards, in addition to implementing health and preventative measures to protect workers against infection, including the provision of free Covid-19 testing for all workers at their accommodation and in industrial areas, with multilingual awareness sessions to inform and educate the community about how to protect themselves against the virus.
The Committee has regularly been following up on workers' affairs, and coordinating with relevant entities to provide accommodation and food for workers who lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic, ensuring that all workers get their wages, dues and all other rights.
Additionally, the Committee coordinated repatriation flights for more than 180,000 workers during the past three months after ensuring that these people were free from infection, and had received all their dues.
The Committee affirmed Abu Dhabi's commitment to protecting workers' rights through comprehensive monitoring and regulatory mechanisms to ensure all workers get their rights, and are treated equally, and with dignity and respect.
