Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children in Abu Dhabi farewelled 2019 with the birth of 14 newborns - 7 girls and 7 boys- including two set of twins on the last day of 2019; and have welcomed 4 newborns (3 boys and 1 girl) during the first eight of New Year Day 2020.
The first baby was born at 1:01 AM on 01 January 2020. He weighed 3 KG. His father, Emirati, Mr. Ali Al Shehhi said, “The delivery was supposed to happen 4 days ago, but with Allah’s will, it happened today so that our baby joins us on this special occasion, not only is it the new year, but it is a new decade. He is our first baby; we have named him Abdullah, and both him and my wife are in good health. From here, I would like to wish everyone a happy new year.”
The second baby was born at 7:05 am on the first day of the new year. The father, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Salem, Emirati, said “Our baby girl is our sixth child. We named her Noora. We were expecting her few days ago, but with Allah’s will, she joined us on this special day, and our celebration is now doubled. She weighed 3.3 KG and is in good health. We are thankful to Allah for all the blessings. It is a blessed year for us all. From here, I would wish our beloved country continuous prosperity and success on the new year 2020. I would like also to thank Danat Al Emarat Hospital for the exceptional care my wife and baby have received.”
At 7:12 am, family of Mr. Aitizaz Raza, Pakistani Engineer, welcomed their third newborn boy. The father said, “My wife went into labor 3 weeks before due date. The baby weighed 2.3 KG and is in good health thanks to Allah. We still haven’t decided on his name. His brother and sister were so excited to meet him. We would like to thank Danat Al Emarat for the care my wife and baby received especially that it was considered high risk. We are indeed happy to meet our baby on the first day of 2020, hoping it will be a successful year full of happiness and good health for everyone.”
Mariano Gonzalez, CEO of Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children, part of United Eastern Medical Services (UEMedical) said, "Including our babies born at the hospital during the early hours of the new year 2020, a total of 16,121 babies have been born at our hospital since our first baby born on 28 October 2015, of which over 8751 were Emiratis. Amongst the total number of births, we had 8373 boys and 7748 girls. We are indeed proud that in 2019 alone, we have welcomed over 5000 newborns. All these precious bundles of joy were managed by our team of over 200 obstetricians, pediatricians, neonatologists, midwives and nurses. We expect to welcome another 5 babies by end of today. From here, we would like to congratulate the UAE’s leadership, government and people on the New Year 2020.”
The hospital distributed flowers for all patients and children who are spending the New Year Day at the hospital.
