Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today made a tour of the ministries of Social Affairs and Labour.
Sheikh Mohammed, who was welcomed by H.E. Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, viewed at the lounge of the ministry a design of the centre for training and rehabilitation of people with special needs, which is at the final stage to receive admitants. The centre aims at training this group to help them foray into the labour market and integrate into the society.
Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by the minister about Fursati, a programme specially tailored to support productive families spiritually and financially and help them improve their living standards. Sheikh Mohammed was also introduced to various social services and initiatives launched by the ministry.
Before departing the ministry premises, the Vice President visited the nursery which accommodates more than 20 children of the ministry female employees.
Sheikh Mohammed said the ministry had made a qualitative leap in the service of UAE citizens since the launch of the Federal Government Strategy.
Sheikh Mohammed then proceeded to the Ministry of Labour where he was greeted upon arrival by the Minister, HE Saqr Ghobash, and senior labour officials.
Sheikh Mohammed was detailed by the minister about the wages protection system (WPS) which was introduced recently in line with his instructions for safeguarding rights of workers.
’’The novel WPS underlines the UAE’s premier role worldwide as a model of firm commitment to protection of workers’ wages as well as their health, financial, living and human rights. It seeks to evolve a safe, stable working environment for both the employer and employee and leverage the principles of transparency and competitiveness,’ the minister stressed.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the WPS as a step in the right direction to safeguard workers’ rights and enhance confidence between employers and their employees.
’’The implementation of the WPS is a national and humanitarian duty and requires mobilisation of all efforts and cooperation of all stakeholders to render the vital, creative system a success,’ ’Sheikh Mohammed said.
