Louvre Abu Dhabi today announced a partnership with the French hospitality company Barrière Group to turn the museum’s restaurant into the first Abu Dhabi-based branch of the company’s well-known brasserie-style restaurant Fouquet’s. Opening in 2020, the restaurant’s menu will be created in collaboration with renowned French chef Pierre Gagnaire, head chef and owner of the eponymous Pierre Gagnaire restaurant, and will include a number of Fouquet’s signature dishes as well as those reflecting the local culture and the tastes of an international clientèle.

Known for its links to the world of art and culture, Fouquet’s is a high-end brasserie-style restaurant with branches in Paris, Cannes, Toulouse, Marrakech and other international locations, mirroring Louvre Abu Dhabi’s universal spirit. Drawing inspiration from the museum’s elegant and artistic atmosphere, Fouquet’s Abu Dhabi will also remain true to the brand’s aesthetic with its unique ambiance and distinctive interior.
Designed by Jean Nouvel, the restaurant area at Louvre Abu Dhabi is made up of modular compartments taking inspiration from Arabic patterns. Nouvel has also designed furniture elements that complement the light-filled interiors and panoramic views of the sea. This includes bespoke chandeliers, manufactured by Mobilier national, that hang over the six VIP tables.
