Abu Dhabi Marketplace, the key networking event for the travel and trade industry organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), was held on February 25 at Rixos Saadiyat Island hotel, with the event gathering key stakeholders together to tackle challenges in the tourism sector and discuss future business plans.
The event, the first and only networking Business-to-Business (B2B) meeting of its kind in the UAE capital, brought together 53 destination management companies and 67 hotels and attractions from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra to discuss a range of issues affecting the travel and trade marketplace. It also looked at the success of individual projects such as Qasr Al Hosn and Louvre Abu Dhabi, and individual sectors, such as the cruise industry.
“This Abu Dhabi Marketplace networking event fulfilled a key mandate of DCT Abu Dhabi; facilitating wider and closer interaction between government and private sector stakeholders to develop improved communication and align industry efforts to increase the volume of visitors to the emirate,” said Mubarak Al Shamisi, Abu Dhabi Convention & Exhibition Bureau Director for DCT Abu Dhabi. “The event also served to inform, engage and address challenges, and we hope the event generated positive outcomes for all participants.”
Attendees included Expedia, Emirates Holidays, Nirvana Travel, Odeon Tours, Dnata Travel, and many others.
