The ninth FrancoFilm Festival presented by the Embassies of France, Belgium, Canada and Switzerland in the UAE and Cinema Akil, in partnership with Manarat Al Saadiyat, will take place on 1st-9th March 2019 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
As part of the Emirati-French Cultural Dialogue, the Francofilm Festival sheds a light on Francophone movies that haven’t been screened in the UAE. For this 2019 edition, the Festival also promotes cooperation between directors from French speaking countries and the Middle East, to ensure a cultural dialogue and a mutual enrichment.
On this occasion, the Ambassador of France, Ludovic Pouille said, "I am thrilled to renew the Francofilm festival in partnership with the Embassies of Belgium, Canada and Switzerland to celebrate the Month of Francophonie.
"For this ninth edition, we have decided to highlight Franco-Arab co-productions to underline the richness and diversity of these creations. This year and for the first time, we are proud to join forces with the independent platform Cinema Akil to offer quality and thought provoking films to the audiences in the UAE."
The ninth edition of Francofilm festival is scheduled to take place in two separate venues, Cinema Akil in Dubai and Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi.
Participating embassies will present a programme curated with the idea to address the diversity of cultures sharing a common language, French.
