Abu Dhabi Festival has announced that it will host a panel discussion, which is set to take place on 27th February within the context of its Visual Arts Exhibition, Distant Prospects. A team of distinguished industry experts will join the discussion and curator’s tour that will be held in Manarat Al Saadiyat.
Featuring world-renowned European landscape paintings from Liechtenstein. The Princely Collections, the landmark exhibition will survey more than 70 incredible works from one of the world’s most important private collections of art.
Open to anyone with an innate or acquired interest in evaluating works by key artistic figures of the Late Renaissance and Baroque artistic movements, a compelling dialogue will explore 15th – 19th century European painting and the influence of the Islamic world on artists in Europe.
Following his keynote address on the day, Manual Rabaté, Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi, will lead the discussion by addressing the significant strides made by the UAE’s arts and culture sectors in recent years.
Guest panelists include Dr. Johann Kraftner, Director of The Princely Collections and curator of this year’s Abu Dhabi Festival Exhibition, who will offer his insight on the history of the works on display and guide the tour of the exhibition following the discussion.
The panel will also be joined by Rose-Marie Mousseaux, Chief Curator for Early Modern Art at Louvre Abu Dhabi, who will share her scientific and curatorial expertise on European Art from 15th – 18th centuries and offer her knowledge on the exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi entitled: ‘Rembrandt, Vermeer and the Dutch Golden Age: Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection and the Musee du Louvre’.
Also joining the conversation will be Dr. Rocio Coletes-Laspra, a Museum Assistant Curator for the Ministry of Culture in Spain who has worked with several museums and cultural institutions in Spain, France, Ireland and the UAE. Dr. Coletes-Laspra specialises in 19th century European painting, with a particular interest in the influence of the Islamic world on European artists.
