Data experts from across the UAE gathered in Abu Dhabi this week to examine how analytics can improve the running of Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.
Led by Dr. Yousef Al Hammadi, Chief Intelligence Officer at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, and hosted by management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, the workshop brought together leading thinkers in the data analytics industry.
Companies were challenged to come up with innovative ways to use the data sets gathered by Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 and design solutions that will improve the safety, operations and public experience of this major event.
It includes designing ways to easily access information on the thousands of athletes, hundreds of team and sport profiles as well as the Games schedules, venues and results. They will also look at solutions to improve the tracking and management of the official fleet of vehicles responsible for transporting athletes and their support staff around the UAE, using latest technologies in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and the Internet of Things.
The government entities and data analytics companies represented included the General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, Abu Dhabi Smart Solutions and Services Authority, the Local Organising Committee of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, McKinsey & Company, SAP, SAS, Xebia and Group42.
