A Hundred Students To Start The ’Future Leaders Programme’

As a part of its Abu Dhabi Winter Activities Programme, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched the “Future Leaders Programme” under the slogan: “UAE Spirit Camp”. 100 students have joined the program which includes field trips to historical, cultural, scientific, and national landmarks throughout the country, as well as workshops that improve their talents and abilities. The program aims to provide students with the necessary skills, experience and knowledge to prepare them to be leaders of the future. It also introduces them to the heritage of the UAE, promotes national identity and supports the country's tourism culture.

Commenting on the program, Nasser Khamis Al Marri, Acting Programs Development Director at ADEK, said: “Through the ‘Future Leaders Programme’, we seek to create a generation of knowledgeable leaders in line with the vision of our wise leaders. The program is a part of our efforts to promote the culture of innovation and creativity among school students by engaging them in comprehensive educational and social projects that develop their knowledge and sense of innovation.”

Al Marri pointed out that ADEK is keen to invest students' time and vacation days productively and provide them with attractive and diverse content that develops their academic abilities and promotes their cultural and national concepts.

“The ‘Future Leaders Programme’ includes field trips in which students are introduced to the geographical environment and historical monuments in the country, as well as participating in competitions through which they learn the principles of teamwork, creativity and innovation in work and research, and engage in workshops that promote environmental awareness. In addition, all students are required to create a project in which they use in their education knowledge,” he added.

Al Marri also pointed out that the‘Future Leaders Programme’ contributes to providing students with both scientific and practical skills, and introduces them to the most important historical landmarks and the geographical nature of the UAE, in addition to teaching them the skills of business entrepreneurship.

Cycle 3 students from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra will join the ‘Future Leaders Programme’ which runs from 21st to 30th December, 2018. The 100 students are divided into three groups to take training courses on report and research writing and learn how to collect, analyze, and apply information.

‘Future Leaders Programme’, which runs until 10th of January, 2019, is part of the Abu Dhabi Winter Activities Programme which is designed to take advantage of the student’s school holidays introduce them to UAE culture and reinforce their national identity. The program also includes the Culture, Heritage and Science Camp in community schools and the Sir Bani Yas Challenge. It also contributes to providing students with cognitive, scientific, practical and leadership skills, instills the spirit of competition among groups, and encourages creativity and innovation at work.
