The World Energy Council recently organised a workshop on 'Middle East and Gulf Regional Energy Scenarios' in the nation's capital, Abu Dhabi.
Fatma AlShamsi, Head of the 24th World Energy Congress Organising Committee, addressed participants during the opening session, quoting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as saying, "Gulf countries are similar in their economic structure, and we hope that we will one day have a unified GCC energy strategy in order to ensure sustainable growth for our people and global influence on our economies."
AlShamsi relayed information about the upcoming World Energy Congress 2019 which will take place in Abu Dhabi, adding that new regional scenarios and innovative insights will be featured as key elements in the congress agenda.
The two-day workshop convened an exceptional group of regional energy leaders and experts in addition to the members of the UAE youth programme specialising in the energy sector, where strategic knowledge exchange took place, promoting open discussion of energy transition challenges, drivers of change and new innovation opportunities.
The workshop aims to produce a set of outputs detailing regionally focused energy scenarios for the year 2040, as well as produce new innovative insights and game changers within and beyond the energy sector.
