This week’s episode of ‘Nashwa’ delves into the often unheard world of conmen and witch doctors in the Arab World. Many naïve people put their complete trust in individuals who in the end, take thousands of dollars away from them with promises of wealth and healing but the victims rarely see anything in return.
‘Nashwa’ is aired on Dubai TV every Monday at 22:30 and repeated every Saturday at 18:00.
Nashwa welcomes a woman who tells of how she used a known conman to help her reconcile with her husband but instead he drugged her and raped her in her home. Another young woman describes the story of how she ended up in the hospital after using herbal medicines prescribed by a witch doctor.
Fouad Al Dousari speaks of how he was desperate to find a cure or medicine for his wife’s depression after the best psychologists could not help her. Turning to witch doctors, he travelled to many countries to meet them and spent thousands of dollars with no results.
Nashwa’s last guest, Wael Fouad, a young journalist, tells of his adventures in capturing a band of African conmen who were making and selling counterfeit Euros.
Concluding the episode is Dr. Malha Abdullah, Dean of the Saudi Theatre who was the first Saudi woman to compose plays. Dr. Malha speaks of the plays she composed in traditional Arabic, Gulf and Egyptian dialects.
