The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, has brought the excitement and entertainment of Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2018 directly to young patients of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi, bringing storytelling, games and a special visit from Nickelodeon characters.
The event was organised with the aim of introducing the younger generation to the importance of humanitarian efforts and social responsibility.
The "Let's Read and Enjoy" programme held a session at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City on Wednesday with the aim to transfer a library’s atmosphere to hospital patients, bringing them an ambiance of love for knowledge and reading, as well as introducing them to the many national library branches spread across Abu Dhabi.
Young patients were treated to a day filled with storytelling and reading activities as part of the Summer Programme, alongside workshops introducing a selection of international authors, books, and cultures from around the world, to encourage patients to read more during the summer break.
Organised as part of DCT Abu Dhabi’s outreach programme, the special visit was aimed at all age groups, especially sick children, to provide them with the necessary moral and psychological support for a smooth recovery.
