The Zakat Fund has recorded total revenues of AED164.95 million during the first half of 2018, an increase of 16 percent over the same period in 2017, amounting to AED141.8 million, said Abdullah bin Aqeedah Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund.
Al Muhairi stressed that the fund is moving forward with balance and certainty to achieve a high level of leadership and excellence, which stems from its strategic and operational plans and the confidence of people who donate zakat to the fund, which ensures complete transparency. The fund regularly updates donors through zakat revenue and expense reports, he added.
He also said that the fund has made its services and payment channels available to the public and has benefited from technological developments, which have enabled it to reach out to more people and provide them with various zakat options. The fund’s statistics and reports show that the value of direct zakat revenues in banks reached AED64.5 million while those in the fund totalled AED40.1 million and AED29.6 million were collected through mobile services, he added.
