The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, recently hosted a workshop with representatives from leading hotel establishments.

Held in line with the 'Year of Zayed', the awareness session reflects DCT Abu Dhabi’s focus on promoting solidarity between the public society and major stakeholders in the hotel industry. The workshop explored the ways in which the Abu Dhabi-based hotel establishments can contribute to the Grace Conservation Project, an initiative that aims to enhance the standards of living for various target groups.

Launched in 2004 under the direction of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, Chairman of the ERC, the Grace Conservation project aims at achieving a strong sense of solidarity among society members through delivering aid.

The project focusses on spreading awareness about the virtues of grace and giving, overcoming waste issues, and redistributing food and clothing to underprivileged members of society. A total of 1,403,689 people received food donations through the project last year.

A total of 37 hotels from across Abu Dhabi participated in the workshop that gave an overview of the guidelines for the hotels’ participation and the ways in which they can contribute to this humanitarian initiative. Participating hotels will be tasked to adopt a set of standards around food safety and hygiene to deliver safe and healthy food for all beneficiaries.
