The agenda of the UAE-Japan Strategic Business Forum, which was held today in Abu Dhabi, is a turning point in the cooperation between the UAE and Japan, and reflects the approach developed over the past four years, which has led to major partnerships between the public and private sectors of both countries, said officials who participated in the forum.
The participation of Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, along with senior Emirati officials, highlights the desire of Japan, a major East Asian economy, to reinforce its ties with the UAE, which has advanced to the stage of diversified partnerships to prepare for the post-oil era.
During the forum, officials stated that the desire of the wise leadership to promote the UAE’s ties with the three major Asian countries, Japan, China and India, is part of its vision to reinforce the country’s ties with these countries.
In his statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Juma Al Keet, Assisting Under-Secretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, stated that the achievements of the recent partnership between the UAE and Japan would not have been possible without the efforts of the wise leadership and its monitoring of the performance of various national sectors, which have made the UAE a model of sustainable development and economic and social stability, as well as an attractive strategic partner for all countries.
Al Keet stressed that the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Japan in 2014 was an achievement that represented progress and led to significant outcomes, not only in terms of the bilateral ties between the two countries, but also in the regional and international balance of power.
Three key initiatives that were arranged between the UAE and India, China and Japan during the previous three years also had significant importance to the global economic and investment decision-making process and reflected the UAE’s strategic objectives that reinforced its leadership, innovation and independence.
On an economic level, the vision of the wise leadership to prepare the UAE for the post-oil era included local and international policies that are based on foreseeing the future, which promoted the country’s ties with Japan, China and India.
The UAE’s efforts to promote its ties with the three major Asian countries includes promoting comprehensive partnerships between the public and private sectors through a clear vision, which was identified by the UAE Vision 2021.
