In the last days of Emirates Innovation Month, the Ministry of Energy and Industry organized the "Innovation Neighborhood" event, which was selected as one of the main events in Dubai during the UAE Innovation Month, according to Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Center.
The innovation district is a new and contemporary pattern of innovative neighborhoods that have been globally developed with essential elements to create a work environment and an attractive lifestyle for innovation in a single, diverse and stimulating innovation space, easily accessible to all segments of society. The most important feature of the innovative neighborhood is the interrelationship between education, technology, Arts, Making it characterized by economic development and quality of life in a simple and distinctive space.
Visitors to the Innovation District had a fun and useful experience through many external and internal events. In the outdoor events, a model of a sustainable home has been implemented that includes many green building standards, such as selecting sustainable building materials that help increase the efficiency of consumption, installing equipment and techniques that contribute to the rationalization of water and electricity consumption, procedures in the management of clean water, and the reuse of gray water as part of the procedures for waste reduction, reuse or recycling. It was also emphasized that the behavior of the individual in choosing the quality of the car contributes to sustainability, as the use of electric cars has a clear role in reducing emissions from the transport sector.
In the Innovation District, visitors met also with one of the business incubators and young innovative entrepreneurs. A section of the neighborhood was dedicated to display the innovative ideas of small and medium-sized enterprises that are advancing to the world through development and support. In the same context, In the Innovation Award for the Ministry of Energy and Industry (EWx2071), which was launched last year, will conclude its first session in the first quarter of 2018 after the participants passed two stages of the award. The winners of the Interior Innovation Award for the Ministry's employees will be honored at its second session, with the opportunity to present their projects and transfer their knowledge to the public.
The innovation district has brought together experienced people and young innovators. On the first day in the Neighborhood, there was third edition of Innovation Talk, a platform for presenting experiences in the energy and other fields. It has enriched a special and innovative discussion, hosting a number of experts in renewable energy and technology, as Sheraa’ from Sharjah for business accelerators, a pioneer in the adoption of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and Scott David, an innovator in solar energy, and the Emirati inventor Talib Al-Hinaae, and Professor Tejun Kim of Kaist University in Korea. The Neighborhood completed its mission in transferring knowledge and innovation in the second day through the second session of the Emirates Forum for Research. It is worth mentioning that the Forum includes a selection of innovative researches in the field of energy, water, industry, provided by experts, researchers and distinguished students, next to focusing on how to bring out research out of the laboratories, and turning virtual theories into reality that serves the future challenges of energy, water and industry
