Mariam Al Muhairi, Minister for State for Food Security, praised the 6th International Conference of Date Palm as an ideal platform for exploration of the future of the important date palm sector within the frame of innovation and creativity, and the methods to be applied for improving and enhancing the sector, and widening the area of international cooperation of the sector.

''The United Arab Emirates is food secured. Yet, the future food security requires a comprehensive approach to flexible strategies based on future technologies for food production, and development of techniques and genetic sources that are compatible with the conditions of the United Arab Emirates in untraditional locations, as well as forming alliances of food security between the United Arab Emirates and other world countries. Therefore, we have to adapt the future strategies with research and development so that such strategies can be effective and sustainable through promotion and enhancement of international partnerships with concerned organizations, '' said Mariam Al Muhairi in her keynote speech at the main session of the Conference, organized by the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, on Monday at the Emirates Palace.

''Such wide partnerships are constructed on mutual rules, visions, aims, and values that place people and the planet in the focus of the efforts. All are requirements at all international, national, regional, and local levels. The sessions of the 6th International Conference of Date Palm make the best platform for working together and anticipate the future about all challenges of date palm production in the world in particular, and the food production systems in general.'' She called on international organizations to an effective partnership with the United Arab Emirates to support the future food security at the regional and international levels as ''we have a role in minds and values communication as well as a distinctive infrastructure and an environment that incubate new biotechnologies center as a platform that supports creativity and innovation in the field of food production.''
