Hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, the Pacific Asia Travel Association, PATA, Travel Mart 2018 kicked off in Al Ain Region on Friday, 23rd February, as part of the PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart 2018, PATA ATRTCM.
The selection of Al Ain as the host for the event has cemented its reputation as a world-class destination for conducting business and hosting high-profile conferences and meetings.
PATA Travel Mart is the Asia Pacific region’s leading travel trade show, which attracted over 230 delegates from 43 countries, due to its unique networking and contracting opportunities. The sessions of the one-day event included appointment sessions where participants conducted personal meetings with buyers and sellers of adventure product from around the world.
Regarding the event, Sultan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of the Tourism Sector at DCT Abu Dhabi, said, "We would like to thank all the delegates for taking part in the PATA Travel Mart this year. As one of the Asia Pacific region’s oldest travel trade shows, the event is an important platform for travel and tourism organisations to meet with decision-makers and new clients. We strongly believe in the need to create strong partnerships between the private and public sectors, to drive the industry forward. Our aim is to host and attract such conferences, and make Abu Dhabi the place to engage with all our international stakeholders, and exchange knowledge that will benefit our economies and communities."
At the end of the conference and trade show today, delegates took part in a half-day tour of Al Ain and viewed Abu Dhabi’s leading tourism sites, including the Al Ain National Museum and the Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum, as well as other cultural and heritage sites, such as Jebel Hafeet and the local camel race track.
