The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi has announced a festival of literature and music will open this month to help commemorate Arabic Language Day.
The Literature and Music Festival aims to stimulate creativity and originality by demonstrating how music and literature are intertwined and how they can influence and inspire each other through a selection of carefully curated performances, which is expected to draw artists, scholars, writers, musicians and people interested in the fusion between literature and music.
Live musical performances, plays, theatrical performances, oud performances, light shows, and readings will all be a part of the event.
Activities are to be held between the 18th and 23rd December at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island and Umm Al Emarat Park.
World Arabic Language Day, which is marked on December 18th, was established by the UNESCO in 2010 to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity.
