Abu Dhabi Customs Learns About Dubai Customs Experience In e-Archive System

Mr. Ahmed Mahboub Musabih, Executive Director of the Clients Management division has received a delegation from Abu Dhabi Customs last week headed by Mr. Abdulla Hasan Al Alkim, Abu Dhabi Customs Director, the delegation has visited Dubai Customs in order to learn and benefit from its experience in the electronic archives system implemented at department.

Mr. Othman Al Kurdi, project manager at Dubai Customs has illustrated the E-archive system, its phases of progress, the methods implemented to assure accuracy and legitimacy of documents, how to identify their locations in the system and handle them properly. He also demonstrated that the system is highly efficient as it makes it easy to retrieve, exchange and share documents internally and externally through one central database.

Mr. Al Kurdi demonstrated the way documents are retrieved and monitored without being manipulated or adjusted, he also stated that the outbox is fully protected and he showed e-mail notifications procedures and electronic check ups, besides methods of saving, retrieving and destroying documents and how to look for them in the system.

Mr. Ahmed Mahboub Musabih said:" Dubai Customs Electronic Archive system is an easy to use electronic board which functions to best serve the needs and requirements of the division now and in the future. It is considered one of the international electronic techniques implemented to manage and register documents using the Livelink ECM program for scanning and creating a database of organizing documents. E-archive reduces the amount of paperwork, saves space in offices and reduces costs of transferring and moving documents."

He added:" Abu Dhabi Customs delegation’s visit is part of the cooperation policy of sharing experiences and Modus Operandi among all Customs Divisions in the UAE, in order to be updated with the most recent practices which will eventually be reflected on serving the community and the country."

The delegation paid a visit to Al Aweer archive at Dubai Customs Administration to learn about the phases of the E-archive project and its mechanism.
