In line with UAE Vision 2021 and Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, a new integrated health group has been formed in the country's capital to create specialised hospitals and medical centres to serve the needs of UAE residents and medical tourists. Abu Dhabi-headquartered Capital Health will pioneer new healthcare models and offer breakthrough technologies to provide patients with best in class care.
The first way Capital Health will change the region's healthcare landscape is in its approach to helping patients recover from illness and injury. The group is currently building the UAE's first fully acute, sub-acute and long-term rehabilitation facility with outpatient capabilities, which will bring highly specialised skills and equipment, including the latest bionics and robotics, to the region.
The advanced infrastructure built and operated by Capital Health will eliminate the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment, while having the capacity to serve the UAE's growing medical tourism market.
Dr. Mishal Al Kasimi, Chief Executive Officer of Capital Health, said: "By bringing highly specialised expertise and equipment to the region, Capital Health will help to transform the Middle East's healthcare landscape. Our first task is to modernise rehabilitative medicine across the Middle East based on best in class global practice that gives science-backed hope to patients. Over time, we will expand our care network to support the UAE's ambitious strategy of delivering exceptional treatment to residents and medical tourists alike."
Capital Health launches with two flagship facilities in Abu Dhabi under development. The 166-bed Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH) will provide acute and long-term rehabilitation care, along with in-patient, out-patient and home care capabilities. Health Shield Medical Center (HSMC) will be a multi-specialty healthcare facility located in the Al Qurm district.
