The Cultural and Media Centre for H. H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has published a study in to mark the centenary of the passing away of Sheikh Zayed Bin Khalifa Bin Shakhbut Al Nahyan, also known as Sheikh Zayed I.

The book tackles the efforts and march of Sheikh Zayed I, which left great marks on the history of the Abu Dhabi emirate in particular; and on the development of the United Arab Emirates in general. It sheds lights on the major stages of the life of late Sheikh Zayed I and his role in the political and economic life of the Abu Dhabi Emirate. It observes that his era was an historic landmark in the history of the region.

In his introduction to the study, H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan states, "today with all esteem and glorification, we stand to commemorate the centenary of the passing of late Sheikh Zayed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan (Sheikh Zayed I), may Allah rest him in peace!, former Ruler of Abu Dhabi (1855-1909).

’’From this blessed centenary we are inspired by the genuine determination of the founding leader, father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah rest him in peace, who realized what his grandfather, Sheikh Zayed I, had intended to achieve, that is, to establish one nation unified through the choice of its leaders and the unity of destiny and goal." The study notes that the era of Sheikh Zayed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan (Sheikh Zayed I) constituted a realistic model and example of a strong will and determination, which managed to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the unity.

The study states that, as Allah endowed those ancestors with Zayed Bin Khalifa who ruled them with justice and equality, He (God) also endowed the people of the United Arab Emirates, after a long time, with late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan who was also a just and generous leader; he was a good branch of the Al Nahyan family. He was the standard-bearer of the unification which, today, became a striking reality, says the study.

The book says that President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed l Nahyan follows in his ancestors’ footsteps, and possesses a deep vision for development and building, as he has followed up all stages of the country’s evolution, and acquired expertise and good leadership along the way. The study quotes President H. H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as saying, "the federation was our means and instruments for realizing our aspiration; and will remain the goal we endeavor to strengthen and defend."
