The occupancy rate of Musaffah Bazar, opened by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality last April, has reached 100 percent, eliminating street hawker activity in the area.
It has attracted thousands of shoppers who found their needs in a proper and healthy environment. The municipality and its strategic partners, including Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre - Tadweer, Abu Dhabi Police, and Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, are keen to have products offered to the public in an efficient and legal manner.
The underlying objective of establishing Musaffah Bazar was to combat unlicensed peddlers roaming the streets of the city and protecting the community from potential health hazards. The market has almost succeeded in eliminating this practice in the area and opened the door wide for those interested in practicing trade to use the market and benefit from its services.
Market vendors offered their thanks and appreciation to Abu Dhabi City Municipality and its strategic partners for opening the bazar and streamlining trade, providing necessary facilities and services as well as its continuous monitoring by inspection teams to ensure delivery of top class services.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality officially opened the Bazar in Musaffah Industrial Area at the end of April this year to curb the activity of peddlers. It has 500 stalls with 250 double tables for the display of products.
The market, constructed at a cost of AED30 million, can accommodate 2,500 visitors and spans an area of 22,000 square metres.
The municipality has given due consideration to building an infrastructure of the highest standards, including rainwater drainage, telecommunications, environment-friendly street lights, parking spaces and an off-loading yard.
The municipality has also set a fine of AED1,000 against peddlers and cautions them not to return to practicing such activity. It urges them to abide by the applicable laws and seek permits for practicing trading activities in accordance with the standards put in place in order to maintain public health and safety.
