Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island this weekend successfully hosted the third Maudsley Health Annual Conference, creating a remarkable opportunity for networking and important dialogue on the mental health and wellbeing services for the child, adolescent and adult population in the UAE. A joint venture between Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) and Macani Health Medical Center in the capital, the conference attracted professors, leading consultants and experts practicing in the fields of mental health, in an atmosphere of engaging discussion and knowledge-sharing on the latest trends in innovative research and best practice.

Commenting on the success of this event, Dr. Martin Baggaley, Chief Medical Officer at Maudsley Health Abu Dhabi said, “This year’s conference highlighted the ongoing global discourse concerning mental health in children and adults.  We are proud to have hosted yet another successful conference, as it is representative of Maudsley Health Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to promote awareness of the causes and types of mental health issues that affect members of our community.  The event brought together some of the greatest minds in the fields of psychiatry and mental wellbeing, who collectively addressed such topics as perinatal mental health, post-traumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents, anxiety and bipolar disorders among others”.

 A stimulating educational event for healthcare and school professionals, the conference featured panel discussions in which internationally recognised key note speakers participated.  Since the launch of Maudsley Health in 2015, Abu Dhabi their facilities have attained commendation for offering high quality assessments, treatment and care to children, young people and their families. Earlier this year the mental health institution also launched services for adults.
