Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Carlos Gaytan presented a ‘taste of Mexico’ to HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director General of the Department of Culture and Tourism, and HE Francisca E. Méndez Escobar, Mexican Ambassador to the UAE, at Emirates Palace, to mark Mexican Independence Day. A week-long event celebrating Mexican gastronomy was also hosted at Emirates Palace’s Sayad restaurant.
HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director General of the Department of Culture and Tourism said: “The UAE and Mexico have a long history of cultural interaction and exchange. We are delighted to highlight the strength of our regard for the Mexican people by celebrating their culture and cuisine in one of Abu Dhabi’s most well-known locations.”
Francisca E. Méndez Escobar, Mexican Ambassador to the UAE commented: “We give great importance to cultural cooperation between Mexico and the UAE. By promoting Mexican gastronomy, Mexican Food Week at Emirates Palace is not only an important sample of the country´s culture and traditions but also a promotion of the agro-food products used in Mexico´s cuisine.”
