Continuing its streak of academic successes, Abu Dhabi University achieved a record growth in faculty-driven scientific research papers, citations, and publications in international scientific journals registered in SCOPUS, from 40 research papers in 2014 to 131 research papers in 2016. The achievement boosts the total number of research papers developed by ADU's researchers from 2006 to 2017 to a cumulative 650.
Commenting on the significance of this latest achievement, Dr. Ashraf Khalil, Director of Research at Abu Dhabi University, stressed the University's keenness in doubling its research outputs especially in fields of study that focus on smart cities, sustainable built environments and mechanisms of bolstering entrepreneurship culture. "Through the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP), ADU has implemented an integrated comprehensive strategy that aims to continuously motivate scholars and researchers to intensify their research efforts and encourage them to publish their research in specialized scientific journals registered in SCOPUS and other world-renowned databases. This will effectively double our research productivity and contribute to the University's transformation into a research-focused higher education institution," added Dr. Khalil.
He said: "In line with this integrated strategy, ADU has also established the Center of Excellence for Smart, Sustainable and Entrepreneurial Cities which oversees three entities- the Research Center on Sustainable Business Processes, the Research Center on Sustainable Built Environments and the Research Center on Smart Services for Smart Cities. Furthermore, ADU's ORSP established the Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects Research (IRB) and provided funding opportunities for student and faculty research through partnerships with local institutions. All these initiatives are a testament to the University's commitment to contribute to the realization of Abu Dhabi Strategic Vision 2030 aimed at building a knowledge-based economy."
