Saudi Arabia’s Flag Displayed At Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Tower
(24 September 2017)

Abu Dhabi International Airport displayed the Saudi Arabian flag at one of its air traffic control towers in celebration of the National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, highlighting the strong bond that ties the people of these two great nations.

Abu Dhabi Airports put together airport wide festivities that covered the whole passenger journey at Abu Dhabi International Airport from check-in to flight departure, and from landing to exiting the airport upon arrival.

Passengers arriving into Abu Dhabi from Saudi Arabia onboard Saudi Arabian Airlines, were welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute. Once in the terminal, all arriving passengers from various destinations within the Kingdom, were treated to a traditional Saudi “Ardah” dance in the baggage claim halls and arrival hall, leaving the arriving passengers in total amazement. The dance was also repeated in the departure halls to capture the attention of passengers departing to Saudi. Both Terminal 1 and 3 were decorated with the flags and colors of Saudi Arabia in a tribute to the unity between the UAE and KSA. Airport staff distributed flags, chocolates, dates and Arabic coffee and balloons to departing and arriving passengers in the check-in and arrival halls. In addition, selected passengers were invited to use the VIP Terminal upon arrival from the kingdom to enjoy an exclusive luxury experience that covered their entire journey from stepping down the plane, to riding in a private vehicle, to relaxing in a 5 star lounge while staff complete their arrival and baggage process, until their exit in style from the airport.

Abu Dhabi Airports published a special snap chat filter for the Saudi national day celebrations at AUH, to engage further with its followers and the public.
Acting Chief Executive Officer, Abdul Majeed Al Khoori said, “The celebrations at Abu Dhabi International Airport signify the close ties between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As we are the gateway to the UAE, connecting people and bridging geographical gaps, it is the ideal venue to demonstrate to the world the type of solidarity we share as we rejoice together.”
