Abu Dhabi, 9 May 2009: This week on ‘Nashwa,’ guests are invited to learn more about the effects of the international financial crisis within Arab communities. Nashwa Al Ruwaini will host a large number of guests from investors to stock market employees and project owners who will talk about their grave losses during the crisis and the marks that have been left on their personal lives and the lives of their families.
‘Nashwa’ is aired on Dubai TV every Monday at 22:30 and repeated every Saturday at 18:00.
A Saudi businessman tells us how he lost 80 per cent of his fortune, and how he had to force his children to downsize their needs and change their ‘style of life’ while an Egyptian farm owner explains how the crisis affected the agricultural sector. Also sharing their stories are a stock market researcher who lost his job and postponed his marriage and a young man who lost 95 per cent of his money on the Saudi stock market.
An Emirati businessman will clarify the effect of the financial crisis on the market and the secret behind the stability felt in Abu Dhabi’s stock exchange despite this global crisis. The show will also host an economic expert to talk about the secret of investing during crises.
Ending on a lighter note, the episode will wrap up with a Syrian couple who play together on the Oud, a traditional Arabic lute.

Nashwa has been voted best female presenter for five consecutive years from 1998-2002 by various Arab newspapers and magazines and most recently has won the prestigious Feigenbaum Leadership Award and was awarded the Gold prize at the Tenth Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival held in Bahrain for her show ‘Nashwa’. She was also nominated for ‘Best Entertainer’ at the 2008 Rose D’Or Awards in Switzerland.
