Italian Ambassador lauds tourism projects in Abu Dhabi
(8 May 2009)

Italian Ambassador, Paolo Dionisi, has underscored the importance of the Arab Travel market 2009, in which his country proactively took part with over fifty tourism companies and renowned personalities in the tourism industry.

In a statement to WAM, the Ambassador said the strong Italian representation in the show along side about 2100 trade mark hotels and airlines reflects his country’s commitment to overcome the repercussions of the global financial crisis.

He called for strong tourism cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Italy in view of the ongoing expansion in the emirates tourism sector, particularly the new hotel resorts springing up and the development of tourism islands like the Yas Island, the Sadiyaat Island and other hotel projects.

He praised the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority for opening two new offices in Rome and Milan last February. He said the Italy Tourism Authority will open shortly its first representation office in Abu Dhabi to further boost cooperation between the two sides in tourism, adding that a 50-man Italian delegation, representing various Italian tourism companies, the media and the hospitality sector is currently on a visit to the UAE to boost tourism ties and probe for new investment opportunities in the tourism sector.
