This weekend from 25-26th August, Yas Mall, the largest mall in Abu Dhabi, hosted an incredible Thai Festival, paying homage to rich cultural heritage of Thailand, to the delight of its residents. The event was held in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in  Abu Dhabi and the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Dubai and the Middle East.

The Thai Festival was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Komate Kamalanavin, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates, and was created by Yas Mall to promote the unique Thai culture. The spectacular festival included Thai food and cooking demonstrations, traditional performance of arts of Muay Thai and fruit and vegetable carving.

H.E. Mr. Komate Kamalanavin, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates, commented, ‘Thailand and the UAE have a special relationship and so we are honoured to host this Thai Festival with Yas Mall and the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Dubai and the Middle East, which not only highlights Thailand’s diverse cultural heritage but strengthens our bond with the UAE.’

Some of the best Thai restaurants in Abu Dhabi were invited to participate - Benjarong - Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, Pachaylen - Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara, Lemongrass Thai Restaurant - Yas Mall, Smoking Doll, Desert Lotus, Thai Bistro as well as the Thai Chef Community to give cooking demonstrations so that visitors can taste the wonderful Thai cuisine.

During the event, there was a real boxing ring by Cobra Fitness, showcasing a Muay Thai demonstration and workshop, while Siamese dancers from Siam Mantra Troupe, direct from Thailand, gave guests an impressive performance. Finally, for art lovers Thai artists created beautiful Thai style flower garlands and showed lucky participants the art of Thai traditional umbrella painting.

For those inspired by the weekend activities, The Thai Tourism Authority and Thai Airways were there to help visitors plan their dream vacation.
