The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has launched the Certificate of Giving campaign, in co-operation with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, during the holy month of Ramadan, based on an initiative by both parties for the UAE’s Year of Giving.
The initiative is a financial endowment, through contributions placed in bank accounts.
The value of the certificate, to be launched for the first time, is AED100, and it includes the six vital areas of education, health, local aid, water aid, the maintenance and construction of mosques and pilgrimages. The campaign is not only limited to the holy month of Ramadan, but it will also continue after the end of it.
During a press conference at the ERC’s headquarters today, Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC, stressed that endowment projects are considered the cornerstone of the country’s charity and humanitarian work.
He added that endowments will continue to be an important way of promoting the UAE’s journey of giving, which was started by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He stated that charity endowment projects provide suitable financial coverage for finance giving projects, guaranteeing the sustainability of giving and fulfilling social responsibilities. He also stressed that the UAE is keen to promote the concept of endowments among the members of society, as well as encourage the initiatives of individuals and companies in this area.
Al Falahi stressed that the ERC, under the presidency of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and President of the ERC, is aware of the importance of charity endowment projects in achieving its humanitarian aspirations. Therefore, it has worked on acquiring support for its endowment projects and promoting the concept of encouraging investments in this area.
He said that the launch of this joint initiative with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank is the start of the growing partnerships of the ERC that include other banks while praising this strategic humanitarian partnership.
Khamis Bu Haroun, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, confirmed that the bank is delighted to co-operate with the ERC for the Certificate of Giving campaign, describing it as an opportunity for the bank to support the UAE’s journey of giving, in line with the directives of the wise leadership to promote the values of giving throughout this year.
