Presenting the achievements, inspirational values and consistent contributions of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and generations of strong women that have shaped the UAE, the Mother of the Nation Pavilion’s new curatorial concept provides visitors with a place to reflect on an enduring legacy through a variety of interactive installations and historical offerings.
Organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and running until the 4th April, the second edition of the Mother of the Nation Festival extends over more than one kilometre on Abu Dhabi Corniche, with the Pavilion reflecting the role of women in fostering the UAE’s development.
A key element and exhibition of the festival, the Mother of the Nation Pavilion explores the impact of these women throughout history and celebrates the past, present and future generations of Emirati women who have participated in the UAE’s progress as mothers, wives, sisters and daughters. Highlighting Emirati women’s historical achievements, the pavilion narrates the pioneering efforts of Emirati women following in the footsteps of H.H. Sheikha Fatima.
Upon entering the Pavilion, visitors are greeted with the inspirational knowledge that on 22 March 2017, Singapore named a rare orchid after H.H. Sheikha Fatima for the humanitarian contributions of Her Highness and her contributions as a role model for women across the Arab world. This rare species has since been named Singapore’s national flower.
