Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and Al Khaznah Tannery have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier today (Thursday) at the 2017 Arabian Travel Market, the region’s largest annual travel and tourism event. The strategic partnership will allow visitors to discover and experience in the process of producing hide leather goods, a practice integral to UAE’s cultural heritage.
The MoU was signed by Sultan Al Dhaheri, Acting Executive Director, Tourism Sector of TCA Abu Dhabi and Mohammed Ghaneem Al Mansoori, General Manager of Al Khaznah Tannery, with combined efforts aimed at highlighting and promoting the use of sustainable handmade chrome-free leathers, most notably camel leather in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
As the Abu Dhabi’s only hide processor, Al Khaznah Tannery is the most technologically advanced tannery in the country. During a tour of the tannery, visitors will be awarded a unique opportunity to view the leather tanning process, characterised by the use of advanced environmentally friendly technologies. The tannery is well known for striving to maintain the preservation of the unique and exceptional nature of genuine leather.
