The Abu Dhabi Energy Authority has sought to strengthen ties with Singapore, especially in the Water and Energy Sector.
Working closely with Singapore was discussed at the end of the Authority's recent participation at Singapore International Energy Week, under the leadership of Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohammed Bin Butti Al Hamed, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, chairman of Abu Dhabi Energy Authority and chairman of Board of Directors of the Regulation and Supervision Bureau.
The delegation includes members from the Bureau, Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company, TRANSCO, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, ADDC, and Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company, ADSSC.
Regarding the meetings, Al Hamed said, "The visit aims to explore experiences of other countries in developing policies and strategies that will benefit the Emirate in ensuring the sustainability of the Water and Electricity Sector, and improve customers’ satisfaction through targeting best practices to simplify and improve the efficiency of services provided to customers in Abu Dhabi."
As part of the participation, Al Hamed also visited SkyLab, which was inaugurated recently by the Building Construction Authority in Singapore and is considered Asia’s first state-of-the-art platform for research and development in the in the field of building design and energy efficiency technologies.
Following the visit, Al Hamed, along with Dr. Mohamed Omar Balfaqeeh, the UAE Ambassador to Singapore, and the accompanying delegation, met with the Energy Market Authority, EMA, of Singapore, which is responsible for energy sector policies and regulations.
Kng Meng Hwee, Deputy Chief Executive of Industry Regulation Division and Power System Operation Division at EMA, welcomed Al Hamed and the delegation. The discussions focused on energy sector challenges and solutions implemented in Singapore. Those at the meeting also reviewed exchanges of experiences in energy sector policy development for an energy mix, energy efficiency and demand side management.
The delegation also learnt about latest developments in Singapore’s energy sector, such as electric vehicle test beds, harnessing solar energy for buildings, and research and development.
