At the extravagant opening of Yas Mall’s Fashion Week, internationally renowned fashion designer Reem Acra announced last night the Emirati winner, Shamsa Saeed Khalaf Al Mazroui, of the ‘Design your way to the Runway’ competition.
Shamsa Saeed Khalaf Al Mazroui had been shortlisted as one of the three finalists who made their way to the final round of the regional competition that spanned across two months and showcased an impressive collection on the catwalk tonight in front of a crowd of highly influential invitees who attended the grand opening of the Yas Mall Fashion Week.
At the stage of the glamorous opening of Yas Mall Fashion Week, Reem Acra announced Shamsa Saeed Khalaf Al Mazroui as the winner of the ‘Design your way to the Runway’ competition, while a representative from Etihad Airways presented her with award of a trip and entry to New York Fashion Week. Kathryn O’Reilly from Tryano was also on stage congratulating the winner with the opportunity to display her collection at the store. Finally, Shamsa Saeed Khalaf Al Mazroui was awarded an exclusive photoshoot of her collection showcased at a top tier ITP fashion publication.
Saoud Khoory, General Manager of Yas Mall, the leading shopping, dining, and entertainment destination in Abu Dhabi, has also congratulated the first runner up Arshia Khan and second runner up, Katerina Nechyporenko, of the ‘Design Your Way to the Runway’ competition while handing both of them trophies. The process has been headed by Reem Acra herself, who selected up Arshia Khan, Katerina Nechyporenko and winner Shamsa Saeed Khalaf Al Mazroui as the top three designers from a shortlist of 10 that followed initial round of applications.

The Yas Mall Fashion Week was opened last night with a spectacular concert from Lebanese superstar, Ragheb Alama, whilst the whole event includes by an incredible catwalk line-up of 12 runway shows by the biggest fashion brands, including Tryano, Esposa, Ted Baker, House of Fraser, Hoss Intropia, Maje, Debenhams, bebe, BCBG, Karen Millen and Weill. New fall and winter collections were showcased by gorgeous models from all over the world were.
Moreover, Make-up Forever and Esthetic Sense are providing hair and beauty styling sessions from October 12-15 at 10:00am-10:00pm, alongside display of their latest product range. An exclusive Gala event was held at Yas Viceroy after the runway shows for the esteemed guests and VIPs.
