Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has teamed up with the Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC) – the Abu Dhabi government’s information technology department - to bring the Authority’s latest technological enhancements to GITEX 2016.
The region’s largest show dedicated to technology is held annually in October in Dubai, and for this year’s edition, which takes place from 16th to the 20th of October, the IT and Digital teams from TCA Abu Dhabi and ADSIC are showcasing their latest software system upgrades.
TCA Digital’s team will be hosting a booth which outlines the latest upgrades to the Authority’s Visit Abu Dhabi (VAD) Smartphone app, while the IT Department will be available to visitors to the exhibition to explain the new additions to the Authority’s IT provisions.
The VAD enhancements include additions such as Trip Planner, a useful feature that allows users to create their own itineraries by either selecting from a number of preconfigured trips or starting their own from scratch. The ability to browse by category (points of interest, hotels, restaurants, wellness & spas and events) and view on a map, as well as drag and drop activities, allows the trip to be perfectly tailored to each user’s preferences.
Another useful addition includes Deals #InAbuDhabi, which provides users with the lowest rates for hotel rooms, giveaways, dining experiences and theme park visits. By working closely with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, the VAD app has been integrated with DARB (a powerful interactive mapping system) resulting in the new Book a Taxi feature, which allows users to seamlessly book taxis directly from their Smartphones. Another inter-governmental collaboration with ADSIC has seen a number of enhancements made to the VAD app’s mash-up map, with bus stops, hospitals, mosques and petrol stations now clearly marked. The app is also now available in Dutch, in addition to Arabic, English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Portuguese Brazilian and Russian.
The IT Department will be showcasing advancements such as the Internet of Things (IOT), which has been introduced to promote the quality of the Tourism Sector as well as discussing Tourism 360, a new system for hotel establishments that integrates e-services ( inspection, revenue, licensing, events) into one and The Winning Card, which was previously called IT Call of Duty, which integrate the day –to-day operations of the IT team over the concept of a Gaming engine to help engage engineers in their tasks to increase the quality of their product and services
GITEX 2016 is being held at Dubai World Trade Centre from October 16 until 20.
