The inaugural edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) will be held at Al Reem Island, in Abu Dhabi, from 27th to 30th March, 2017, the organising committee has announced.
The GMIS will bring together high-profile representatives of public and private sectors, and representatives of civil society organisations. It will also attract global innovators in the aviation, auto, food production, and healthcare sectors.
The importance of GMIS is not just to make plans for global manufacturing in the future but also to adopt a transformational method in the industrial sector at a global level in a manner that meets requirements of future generations, Badr Salim Sultan Al Olama, member of the GMIS organising committee, and CEO of Strata Manufacturing PJSC, said at a press conference held on Monday.
Cisco Enterprise IT Business Specialist Company expected that the size of the global "Internet of Things" market will touch $14.4 trillion by 2022.
The hosting of the event is in line with the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategic Plan 2016-2020 based on the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, said Eng. Ayman Al-Makkawy, Director-General of the Industrial Development Bureau, at Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.
Most of the main issues to be discussed revolve around enabling the private and public sectors and civil society to work together to devise future industry strategies for the benefit all parties, activating channels of communication between industrial companies and policy makers to establish a more advanced mechanism of co-operation for economic growth, and developing competencies to deal with major developments within the industrial sectors.
Other key issues related to enhancing growth enablers for the industrial sector across participating countries will be discussed as well.
