The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), today launched the 8th session of the national initiative 'Yes for Work' to consolidate the role of young Emiratis in the labour market.

The event is organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. Held from 7th- 25th August, the programme generally targets Emirati male and female students to help them obtain part-time employment during school holidays.

The function is held in selected elite businesses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-General of ACTIVET, said the recent decision of Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, to employ and offer training for students in private sector enterprises and existing facilities approved for training purposes, according to the internal workforce permit of the ministry, "comes in line with the initiative of ACTIVET "Yes to Work", which was launched years ago.

He pointed out that the eighth session "Yes to Work" aims at honing students' skills during the summer vacation in innovative ways in areas of customer service, marketing sales, warehouse management, and other areas, while working effectively in areas of retail sales environment that guarantees young people a distinctive work experience, and allows them to identify how businesses operate.

Al Shamsi noted that this initiative targets UAE national youth, males and females, aged 15 to 21, who wish to participate for the first time. He added that it also opens the door for those seeking to complete four different programme levels to receive a certificate that qualifies them for approval by the National Qualification Authority.
