Bait Al Oud Music Academy, part of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), will hold a special concert on Thursday, 2 May 2016, to celebrate the graduation of two qanun players.
Hana’a Shukri Abu Kharais and Layla Ammar Abdul Baqi will play solo in a live concert to show their skills and teqhniques aquired during their training at Bait Al Oud. They will also play together in a live show with the qanun instructor, Bassam Abdul Sattar.
The graduation of the two female players comes following their two-year training terms at Bait Al Oud with Abdul Salam as well as theory and solfège trainer, Samir. In addition, both have acquired good experience in new qanun techniques as well as Eastern music studies.
TCA Abu Dhabi, through its Bait Al Oud institution, has offered creative talents a hospitable environment to flourish. Bait Al Oud is keen to detect and develop new talents and take them from amateurs to creative artists. We expect an outstanding future for our new graduates today in light of their exceptional gifts and quality training.
Over the last few years, Bait Al Oud has trained several talented Emirati artists from different age groups on qanun. The institute holds annual concerts for its trainees and hosts a selection of the best Arab players.
One of TCA Abu Dhabi’s projects, Bait Al Oud was established in 2008 to produce new generations of oud players and provide them with all skills and techniques to excel in this Eastern instrument and play the most sophisticated pieces of music to the highest standards of professionalism.
