Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has revealed that 1,260 exhibitors from 63 countries will participate in the 26th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), including 600 authors and over 20 artists.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, ADIBF will take place from 27 April to 3 May 2016 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
To emphasise the Fair’s role as one of the most prominent cultural events specialising in books, reading and knowledge, the exhibition has expanded by 10% compared to the hugely successful silver jubilee edition in 2015, increasing to 31,962 square metres, with the expanded Fair an opportunity to further the objectives and contribute to the UAE’s ongoing Year of Reading 2016 initiative.
ADIBF, a forum for Arab and international poets, writers and creators, reflects the UAE's leading position in appreciating writers, authors and their works, and for celebrating cultural achievements. It also underlines its commitment to promoting knowledge by highlighting the values of humanism and ethics that promote tolerance, discussions and openness to others.
TCA Abu Dhabi is working with a long-term vision to position the Emirate as a global cultural destination and as a hub for creative writers, authors and reading enthusiasts, and spearheading improvements to ADIBF’s structure and initiatives to meet and exceed international standards.
The exhibition will host 500 cultural initiatives that include highlighting the life of the Arabic-Islamic philosopher Ibn Rushd and others who contributed to Italy’s cultural and intellectual achievements.
The other initiatives include the Business Club area, Creativity Corner, eZone and Service Providers’ Area, Show Kitchen, Black Box Cinema, Cultural Programmes, the new ‘Signatures’ book signing initiative and the Illustrator’s Corner.
The exhibition also seeks to promote the publishing industry and books in the UAE and the region to become a centre for advanced and efficient copyright and intellectual property rights.
