The conference - which is the first international conference in the field of cognitive neuroscience organised in the region - examines the latest applications to harness neuroscience in the field of educational research and the development of teaching methods.
Researchers in this area link the key findings in cognitive neuroscience with educational technology to help in the implementation of the curriculum to teach math and reading, and other types of education. The conference provides an opportunity for educators to take advantage of presentations, panel discussions and workshops by experts in brain research from around the world.
Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Emirates College for Advanced Education, said this conference is part of its strategy to support the scientific research in the field of cognitive neuroscience. He pointed out that "The conference is an important platform for the review of the latest research in neuroscience and how can educators benefit from the results of this research, as the knowledge of how the brain works help to improve educational outcomes and the development of new methods that contribute to improving the education sector at the local and international levels."
He praised the research papers in the field of neuroscience, pointing out that the importance of the conference, which coincides with the strategic plan of the state, is to provide an educational system in accordance to the highest international standards, as the development of education is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable growth in the long term.
Professor Morris Potito delivered one of the keynote speeches at conference on the use of magnetic stimulation technique to understand the cases of congenital blindness. He gave several examples of how to use this technology in educational practices to activate the visual parts of the brain of blind, while the second lecture focused on the evaluation of educational practices using vibrational elector-physiological in the hippocampus of the brain, and the third on the brain planning to tame the mind using behavioural data and medical imaging.
For his part, Professor Robert Milne, Acting Vice Chancellor of Emirates College for Advanced Education, said, "This conference is an important platform for the convergence of the researchers with extensive global experience from Canada and the United States, Europe and Arab countries, including the UAE.
He added conference gathers researchers and experts on brain research development, leaders and experts from the education sector to develop strategies appropriate to enhance student achievement and develop the education.
