The Environment Agency – Abu Dhaabi, EAD, has announced its participation at the International Water Summit, IWS, to showcase its efforts in finding innovative solutions to protect and conserve the emirate's strategic groundwater resources.
Hosted by Masdar as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the summit is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 18th to 21st January.
Groundwater in the UAE is largely a non-renewable resource, making its protection and conservation a vital undertaking. In this year's edition of IWS, EAD will meet with policy makers and peers to holistically address a range issues from water supply and demand to the economic valuation of this scarce resource.
Besides its participation at the conference, EAD will also be participating at the IWS exhibition to highlight its innovative solutions to conserve water and to discuss potential cooperation opportunities with key global players to address water issues.
Throughout the exhibition, EAD will showcase six key projects that highlight its contribution to the overall conservation of groundwater in Abu Dhabi. These projects include the Abu Dhabi Groundwater Well Inventory Project, the Crop calculator, the Water budget, and the Groundwater Mapping Project, in addition to the Sustainable Irrigation of Date Palms Using Saline Groundwater and the Sustainable Irrigation of Arid Forests using Groundwater and Recycled Water.
