The title winner of this year's Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Rafael Nadal, has raised his gold trophy, designed by Lasvit, the official trophy supplier of the tournament for the 6th year running, at an awards ceremony.
The Mubadala World Tennis Championship, with its star-studded line-up, has become one of the most anticipated sporting events on the Abu Dhabi Calendar. This year's final saw legendary Rafal Nadal and Milos Raonic facing-off for the gold in a nail-biting final at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. Second and third place trophies were awarded to Milos Raonc and David Ferrer, respectively.
Speaking at this year's final, Leon Jakimic, President of Lasvit, the Czech Republic-based design company, said, "The Mubadala World Tennis Championship is a world class tournament attracting some of the world's greatest tennis players to Abu Dhabi and we are very proud to continue to support this fantastic initiative through the creation of bespoke trophies."
This year's trophies, aptly named the Sunrise Trophy and inspired by the brilliance of the rising sun over the desert of the Arabian Gulf, are the creations of Lasvit's in-house designer, Jana Ruzickova. The trophies outer crystal-clear layer surrounds a gradient of vibrantly coloured glass to enhance the luminosity of colours, this year in gold, silver and brass.
