Iftah Ya Simsim, the Arab world's pioneering television and YouTube series based on the world famous Sesame Street, is set to captivate young learners by bringing fun, educative activities and a live show to this yearsedition of the Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2015.
In partnership with the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee, TDC, Iftah Ya Simsim will conduct activities for this year that will echo the commanding theme, Eat Right and Get Active, bringing to life the show's educational stories and topics which aim to enhance the healthy development of children.
Set to take place from 12th to 22nd November at Mushrif Central Park in Abu Dhabi, the festival will feature a creatively-designed Iftah Ya Simsim stand, The Laboratory, which will be hosting children aged 3-8 for special engaging tasks which have been organised to help stimulate their minds and power of reasoning.
"Iftah Ya Simsim uses every opportunity to bring cutting-edge, fun and innovatively educational Arabic content for all children. The Abu Dhabi Science Festival serves as an effective platform for us to reach out to the children, and enrich their young minds through creative means. This year, we plan to bring more entertainment, laughter and edifying activities and shows that will tie in well with plans to increase the focus on science related topics for Iftah Ya Simsim's upcoming episodes," said Cairo Arafat, Managing Director of Bidaya Media, the production company driving the new Iftah Ya Simsim.
"The Health Authority is delighted to support the Iftah Ya Simsim show and workshop at the Abu Dhabi Science Festival. We believe that this is an important channel to reach children and teach them about healthy behaviors especially eating the right food and getting active," a spokesperson from the Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD) said.
With the suppport of HAAD, Bidaya Media will be hosting activities which focus on healthy living choices, counting numbers and more, through creative games which will revolve around the popular characters of Iftah Ya Simsim. Taking place at the Tazazun Theatre at Mushrif Central Park, a 15-minute live show will also take place twice a day during the festival, with live reading and entertainment from the lovable Muppets; Shams, No’man, Gargour, Elmo and Rashid, the young male character on the show played by Abdullah Rafaah.
Iftah Ya Simsim live show will run twice daily at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. from 12th-22nd November. The workshop and activities will be held from Thursday to Saturday, 12th to 14th and 19th to 21st November, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., at The Laboratory.
