Aldar Presents Maraya Exhibition At Yas Mall
(11 November 2015)

Reflective of its role in shaping the modern urban landscape of Abu Dhabi, Aldar Properties, has collaborated with Greek visual artist Chronis Spanos for a unique artistic initiative, ‘Maraya’.

Maraya, meaning ‘Mirrors’ in Arabic, consists of 30 aesthetically striking and visually distinct portrayals of the capital’s geometry of urban space. Spanos transforms the architectural axes, constructive details and angles into unique pieces of abstract art through the power of photography, subtly presenting an intriguing juxtaposition of modernity and tradition. Seen through the artist’s lens it becomes clear that the creativity and innovation are exemplified by Aldar in its master developments.

The photographs will be exhibited at Yas Mall’s Pearl Court from November 19th to the 22nd, on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Art 2015, one of the capital’s most anticipated arts and cultural events.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chief Executive Officer, Aldar, said, "Abu Dhabi is rapidly becoming a global destination, with one of the world’s most striking skylines, and at Aldar we are proud to play an important role in this urban evolution. These photographs not only celebrate the aesthetics of Aldar developments but also aim to inspire, inform and engageviewers. We encourage people to see the splendor of the capital’s urban scenery in a new way. The initiative demonstrates our commitment to support the development of fine arts in the region as well."

Chronis Spanos, added, "I am delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with Aldar for this unique project. The architecture of Aldar developments itself is a work of art and it was an inspiring experience to push the limits to create something new out of the existing through the power of the lens."

The collection incorporates shots from Yas Viceroy, Burj Mohammed bin Rashid, Gate Towers, Yas Links, Yas Mall, and the iconic Aldar HQ.
