His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received the visiting U.S. Congress' delegation, led by U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, at Al Shati Palace.
Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Congress delegation's visit to the UAE. He discussed with them the existing friendship and cooperation relations between the UAE and the U.S, as well as the importance of enhancing them to the advantage of the two friendly peoples and countries.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi also reviewed with the U.S delegation the most important ideas and visions which would contribute towards boosting bilateral relations between the UAE and the U.S., as well as support the efforts being exerted by the two countries to develop ties in various domains.
Sheikh Mohamed and the U.S. Congress delegation also exchanged views on the latest developments in the regional and international arenas. They also reviewed the international initiatives and the efforts being exerted with an aim to achieve stability and peace in the region.
In this regard, Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the UAE's stance which calls for addressing various crises in the region by according priority to dialogue and understanding, and by seeking ways to enhance peace opportunities, peaceful coexistence and by supporting the efforts to fight extremism and terrorism as well as strengthen the foundations of stability and security of the countries and peoples of the region.
The U.S. Congress delegation expressed its happiness at having visited the UAE and availing of this opportunity to gain an insight into the country's cultural boom and its openness to the world, as well as its vision for the development in the regions, hailing the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Among those who attended the meeting were Yousef Al Otaiba, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the United States of America, and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, the Undersecretary of the Court of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince.
A number of U.S. Congress members and Barbara A. Leaf, the US Ambassador to the UAE, also attended the meeting.
