(4 November 2015)

Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority has announced the winners of the 2015 edition of the long-running Abu Dhabi Art Wings Project.

The Abu Dhabi Art Wings Project is just one of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority's initiatives supporting emerging creative professionals in the UAE. The Wing Project is an initiative where emerging Emirati artists and designers recreate the Abu Dhabi Art 'Wing' logo.

The winners' designs will be displayed at Abu Dhabi Art fromNovember 18 - 21, and the winning designs will be sold at Abu Dhabi Art retail store "Artyfact".

Here are the winners:

Aleya Al Hammadi

Abu Dhabi-based Aleya Al Hammadi, a 24-year-old freelance designer, who graduated from Zayed University in 2015, with a Bachelor's degree in CCMS and Multimedia Design. Al Hammadi volunteered for the Peer Assistant Leader (PAL) Centre and Zayed University Middle East Film Festival, and interned at the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Hosn Festival. As part of her internship at DED (2014) she worked in the Communication Department in conjunction with the creative team. At the Qasr Al Hosn Festival (2015), she worked for the sentimental scrapbook section and at the Inspiring Courtyard in the Cultural Foundation Building. She displayed one of her projects about Abu Dhabi International Airport - Terminal 1 at the Lest We Forget exhibition. Al Hammadi was also part of two clubs in University (Korean Club (2010-11) and Robotics Club (2011-12).

Amna Ahmed Al Suwaidi

Amna Al Suwaidi has a vast working experience in graphic designing. Al Suwaidi's said: "To create my illustrations, I give myself enough time to hover around the texts, colours, and shapes. As an artist, I am inspired by my daily life, culture, and my country's vision. I love attending to small details, playing with the colour tones and placing several layers on my canvas to make it look alive. The final result of my painting needs to show and express the idea and the message I need to convey to the viewer. I always challenge myself in reaching my goals and this always leads me to aim higher and to excel in what I am doing.

Hamad Rahma Al Falasi

Hamad Al Falasi believes Digital Photography helped him foray into the art scene. In 2005 he embarked on the digital media and started capturing daily life around him while travelling. Art for Hamad is a matter of taste, the more he strives for uniqueness the more he conquers areas that people hardly recognise. Hamad also likes to experiment with geometry and calligraphy, however most of his artworks are self-portraits, depicting unique ideas and concepts, and each artwork comes with an appropriate documentation as a quote or poem. Experimentation is a way of identifying new themes, based on which his next artwork evolves as he prefer his artwork to deliver anonymous and ambiguous messages, allowing the viewer to create their own interpretation. Hamad's interest falls mainly in the tradition and culture of the UAE.

Hessa Ahmed Al Joker

In 2008, Hessa Al Joker and her sister Fatma established their own clothing-line for women "Pearla". Ever since then, she has been creating pieces based on the stories and fantasies from her imaginations from childhood. Al Joker was an intern at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011, and helped organise the event. In 2014, she exhibited her latest work at an exhibition at Rira Gallery, which was held in collaboration with Baume and Mercier.
